The As Guitarras Não Têm Saudade music series returns to Coimbra with performances by Geologist and IT DEEL on 5 and 7 November, respectively. The series explores the sonic possibilities of stringed instruments.
IT DEEL brings together Joana Guerra, Maria Do Mar, Romke Kleefstra and Jan Kleefstra in a poetry and music ensemble born from a residency project led by the Kleefstra brothers. Following three previous sessions and releases with Jacaszek, Eivind Lønning & Espen Reinertsen, and Karen Willems, the brothers invited cellist Joana Guerra and violinist Maria do Mar for a creative residency in the summer of 2024.
The central theme of this work is the relationship between humanity and nature in all its beauty and complexity. It is not a light subject, but a universal one, deeply rooted in connection and shared experience.
The concert will take place at the Casa Museu Bissaya Barreto (R. Infantaria 23, 3000-219 Coimbra). Doors open 30 minutes before the performance.
