Since 2017, the "Guitars Don't Have Nostalgia" cycle has sought to trace the connection between the vibration of stringed instruments and the emotions they evoke, questioning whether they also feel those emotions. A cycle dedicated to the mastery, passion, and ingenuity of stringed instruments, organized by Casa das Artes Bissaya Barreto, which returns in November and December.
On December 6th, Sissi Rada debuts in Portugal, in the city of Coimbra. Originally from Greece, Sissi Makropoulou is a multifaceted artist who navigates classical and electronic currents with dexterity. Alongside her classical harp training, Sissi has dissolved her classical sensibilities into an electronic approach, with ethereal vocals and familiar soundscapes.
In 2024, Sissi Rada released "Aporia," an album recorded at her home in Athens and released by the Belgian cult label Stroom. With lyrics in Greek, the album explores simple manifestations of life, love problems, and random thoughts, as if taken from her diary. As an electronic music artist and classical harpist, she has collaborated with artists as diverse as Brian Eno, Lee “Scratch” Perry, and Lena Platonos, or even the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra and the German Opera.
